Simba's story started in 1979 when the company supplied its first spool of thread to a Derbyshire mattress factory. Afterward, this family thread company gained notoriety and expanded its business internationally. The thread designed by this company has been used by mattress manufacturers in over 35 countries that created over 50 million mattresses. Thus, the company decided to design its own mattress starting in 2002. Simba mattresses enjoyed immediate success. So, the company ventured further and decided to create a high-tech mattress that could offer excellent support while remaining affordable. The result was the Simba hybrid mattress, the only mattress with a patented spring comfort layer for increased support and zero pressure, a mattress that won over 50 awards. Besides this model, the company also offers organic, foam, and kids mattresses, alongside beds pillows, and duvets.

First Impressions

1.      Feel & Firmness

Based on the generic firmness scale, the Simba Hybrid mattress is medium-firm. These mattresses are firm thanks to the multiple layers and sturdy support but have a soft top.

2.      Edge Support

The hybrid mattresses are provided with edge lift technology, which ensures the same support edge to edge and prevents dipping and rolling off at the sides.

3.      Motion Isolation

If you’re looking for a mattress that minimizes motion transfer, the Simbatex® foam mattresses are the best choice as they are made of several layers of foam that reduce motion. Nonetheless, the hybrid mattresses also promise personalized support thanks to their Aerocoil® springs that respond to each individual movement and minimize motion transfer.

4.      Bounce

The all-foam Simba mattresses offer more elasticity than the regular foam mattress. If you’re looking for more bounciness, the Hybrid mattress, with its patented mix of springs and foam, is the best choice.

5.      Mattress Construction

Simba offers foam, organic, and hybrid mattresses. The hybrid mattresses feature one or two comfort layers of 2,500 or 5,000 titanium Aerocoil® microsprings, depending on the model. These mattresses have 4, 5, 7, or 10 layers and measure 20, 25, 28, or 31 cm in depth. The open-cell Simbatex foam is infused with graphite which absorbs the body’s heat and ensures a cooler sleep. This effect is also enhanced by the Aerocoil® comfort layer that provides better airflow.

The foam used in Simba mattresses is CertiPUR®, emissions-tested, and doesn’t contain toxic pollutants. The mattresses’ covers are hypoallergenic and breathable.

The Simbatex® Foam mattresses offer 30x more airflow and extra elasticity. These mattresses feature 3 or 4 layers and are 19-25 cm deep.

Simba Organic mattresses are made of GOLS Organic latex, GOTS Organic cotton, and Aerocoil® springs. They have 6 layers and are 30 cm deep. These mattresses contain 100% recyclable materials.

6.      What Medical Conditions Does the Mattress Support?

Simba’s hybrid mattresses include seven zones that ensure soft shoulder support to mitigate pain in this area. The firm lumbar section helps align the spine correctly and reduces back pain. The organic mattresses also offer excellent pressure relief and cushioning thanks to their organic latex and supportive Aerocoil spring layers, and zoned support core. The Simbatex® foam mattress range doesn’t fall behind either, offering excellent support thanks to its open cell structure.

Delivery, Sleep Trial, Returns

Simba mattresses come with a 10-year guarantee and a 365-night sleep trial, which is more compared to the 100-night industry standard. There is a minimum 30-nigh test period before you can return your mattress for free and get a refund. The company also offers free delivery straight to your room of choice. Delivery takes three days and Simba can also remove your old mattress.

Social & Environmental Impact

Simba is a founding member of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Climate Action Roadmap. It manufactures mattresses from 100% recyclable materials in zero-waste factories based in the UK. More so, the Simba mattresses are refurbished instead of ending up in a landfill. The company's foam is free from dyes and heavy metals. More than 60% of its packaging is made of recycled materials from approved FSC sources. Furthermore, Simba deliveries are 100% carbon neutral.
